Why is Web Video so hot?

Coupla things - Broadband access is becoming ubiquitous, resulting in faster connection speeds that are essential for quality viewing of web video.

Also, Macromedia Flash, which most web surfers already have bundled in their browser, has enabled easier viewing of video than before. Since 94% (and counting) of you already have Flash, you can watch Flash video with ease. Same is true of your customers, and that's a good thing.

So does that mean web video is like watching a Hollywood blockbuster on TV at home?

Generally, no.

Video on the web is an evolving art and science. Flash makes it better than ever, but many factors may impact the quality of your experience. For example, your connection to the internet, how busy your local network is, how the video is prepared for web delivery (btw, Walkie Talkie does this right), and even the degree of motion in the film footage itself impacts viewing quality.
