Selected project: This PlaceDocumentary What began as a curiosity about the roadside memorial markers (and the
idea of beauty in the grieiving process) led me to create a documentary
that features three families that lost young people unexpectedly and
have chosen to honor them and their grief via memorials placed at their
place of death. Through some unexpected connections, the double bass
also became a character in the film.
Recent project: "Dream for Double-Bass in Love Major" a short commissioned by bassist Jessica-Gilliam Valls for her performance at the International Society of Bassists in June 2009. Music by Graham Reynolds.
Artistic
work usually starts with a question. Kala enjoys collaborations with
other artists and is open to inquiries on art projects that may be
enriched by a video or visual component.
